Grundy Wetland Design
Greenwood County, Kansas
Wildhorse Riverworks, Inc. (WRI) personnel designed and provided construction oversight for a 4.5 acre wetland in Greenwood County, Kansas for a private landowner. The primary purpose of the wetland was to remediate salt brine spills from nearby oil well and provide wildlife habitat.
The site was surveyed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The survey, design, and construction oversight cost for this project was provided by the Kansas Alliance for Wetlands and Streams (KAWS). Soil analysis indicated the largest concentration of brine was contained the top 6 inches of soil. The WRI design called for this to be removed and buried in the dike core trench. The design was finalized in July 2009.
Construction began in April 2010 and was completed in June 2010.
